Our Catholic Identity and Parish

At St Paul's, we are a Catholic school community that respects the dignity of all and strives to provide a quality learning environment focused on the life of Jesus. Drawing on the rich Dominican charism of our school’s founders, we aim to live out our vision statement by being a Catholic community that respects the dignity of all as we strive to provide a quality learning environment focused on the life of Jesus.

The core values of our school emanate from St Paul’s letter to the Corinthians: "So, faith, hope and love abide, these three; and the greatest of these is love." (1 Corinthians 13:13)

The core Catholic values of faith, hope and love are actioned through:

  • Respect
  • Honesty
  • Responsibility
  • Resilience
  • Justice
  • Encouragement
  • Compassion
  • Cooperation
  • Optimism
  • Excellence
  • Belonging

We are a Catholic faith community where students celebrate the sacraments, liturgy and prayer. The celebration of the Eucharist is the heart of the prayer life of our school.

Students participate in whole school Masses to celebrate special feast days and the liturgical seasons of the Church. One class goes to Mass each Thursday during each term on roster basis. Reconciliation is also offered after these Masses.

We work closely with our parish priest, Fr Richard Green, to ensure our children experience an authentic experience of Catholic community centred on the person of Jesus. Father Richard is a regular visitor to our school, working with classes and offering pastoral guidance to our students and staff.

As a faith community, we also value faith in action and aim to make a difference in the lives of others through all that we do. Our school community believes that, as people of faith, we have a responsibility to reach out and try to make our world more just and more kind just as Jesus asks of us. Initiatives such as our student Mini Vinnies group, our stewardship and environmental efforts, and other community involvement and outreach, are aimed at teaching our children that we can all make a difference.

PARISH DETAILS

Our school is part of the St Paul's Moss Vale Catholic Parish community.

There are many aspects of parish life in which students, staff and families may become involved. All members of our parish school community are actively encouraged to be part of parish and Church life.

Parish sacramental celebrations also provide an opportunity to celebrate students' life of faith with fellow parishioners. The parish provides programs of preparation for the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist (First Communion) and Confirmation each year. Enrolment for the sacraments occurs through the parish. The school-based Religious Education curriculum supports and enriches this program of preparation. Read more about the sacramental programs.

Participation in weekend Mass is also actively encouraged. View the Parish Mass Times here.
